An independent Outlook add-in built to solve a real problem.
The Problem
Anyone who uses Outlook folders to organise their email knows the drill. An email arrives, you read it, you decide where it belongs, you navigate the folder tree, you drag it over. Repeat — dozens of times a day, every day.
For simple inboxes, this is manageable. But once you're dealing with a complex folder structure — multiple clients, multiple projects, deep hierarchies with similar names — the filing decision itself becomes a source of friction. You end up leaving things in the inbox "just for now," and the inbox slowly becomes a second filing system that nobody maintains.
Outlook Rules help with the predictable stuff. But they break when senders change, they can't handle context-dependent emails, and they accumulate until they're a maintenance project in their own right.
How Folder Suggest Came to Be
Folder Suggest was built by Henry Bravo, an independent developer who spent too much time on exactly this problem. He knew what a good folder structure looked like, but the filing friction was too high to keep it up. The goal was simple: make filing an email as fast as reading it.
The result is a free Outlook add-in that uses on-device AI to suggest the right folder for each email. It reads the sender, subject, and body of the current message and compares it against the emails already in your folders, then surfaces the best matches ranked by confidence score. One click moves the email. No rules to write, no configuration required, no onboarding wizard. It works with whatever folder structure you already have, immediately after installation. After a few days of use, it's the kind of thing you wonder how you managed without.
Privacy is built in, not bolted on. The AI model runs entirely on your device — your email content never leaves your machine, is never sent to our servers, and is never processed by any cloud AI service. We don't use analytics or tracking of any kind. You can verify all of this in our Privacy Policy.
